James Randi is a skeptic and former professional stage magician who works to disprove paranormal claims.
Randi has pursued "psychic" spoonbenders, exposed the dirty tricks of faith healers, investigated homeopathic water "with a memory," and generally been a thorn in the sides of those who try to pull the wool over the public's eyes in the name of the supernatural. [1]
Randi is well known for offering a million dollar reward to anyone who can prove paranormal events/abilities under controlled conditions. This prize has never been claimed.
The Randi organisation also challenge prominent figures claiming supernatural or paranormal power by name and give them 6 months to respond to the challenge. All this is published prominently. If the challenged individuals don't respond to the challenge the public can draw their own conclusions about how confident these individuals are about their supposed gifts. [1]
This website follows Humanist morality and sincerely hopes Randi will do all in his power to prevent sexual harassment of women in organisations he runs. There are allegations this hasn't consistently happened. [2]
