Atheism

George Bernard Shaw was an important British playright, social reformer and atheist in the late 19th Century and early 20th Century.

We know now that the soul is the body, and the body the soul. They tell us they are different because they want to persuade us that we can keep our souls if we let them make slaves of our bodies. [1]

Early in adult life Shaw was an atheist but later Shaw came to believe in some mystical poorly defined life (purposeful?) force realising itself through nature and evolution connected with New Age-ism. Throughout his life Shaw strongly opposed traditional church based religion.
