Genesis is not science, Genesis is a tale that was handed down for generations by people who really knew nothing about science, who knew nothing about natural history, and certainly knew nothing about what fossils were.

Genesis is the first book of the Old Testament. It starts with how Christian Fundamentalists imagine the Universe was created. Scientists are sure the universe was not created in days a few thousand years ago.

Genesis goes on to unreasonable stories like Noah's flood and a bit later the Tower of Babel. A bit further on, Genesis tells readers how believers imagine a loving God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac. Though Isaac was spared at the last minute the young lad would have been in extreme terror of death. Genesis continues with Isaac as an old man being nasty to his sons, with Jacob's sons being nasty to their brother, Joseph and Joseph being nasty to his brothers.

Fortunately there's no reason to believe Genesis is any more reasonable than other Bronze Age Mythology of the time.
