Critical thinking is thinking rationally and sensibly, making the most of whatever information you have. Thinking critically includes disciplining yourself to try and examine all the evidence, including what goes against your ideas or preconceptions. Thinking critically means looking for what is true rather than what you wish were true.
You can't ever stop letting your emotions influence your thinking, no Human being can but you can work on yourself to limit the problem.
Critical thinking and Christianity
There a good side and also a bad side to Christianity.
- If you were brought up in a Christian country you probably already know a great deal about why Christians think their religion is good.
- In this website you can find out why many atheists think Christianity is worse than the Christians imagine.
- Critical thinking means comparing what we write with what Christians say and write, then trying to work out who you think is correct.
Misconceptions
- Critical thinking is not synonymous with atheism and not all atheists are good critical thinkers. There are many reasons why someone might lack a belief in god/gods and careful weighing of evidence is only one.
